Last Friday morning, your Chamber
testified in opposition to the proposed Mississippi
River Critical Area Zoning Overlay at the Saint Paul
Planning Commission. The
Saint Paul Pioneer Press followed with an editorial
earlier this week supporting our position of the
importance of finding balance between protecting the
river and future development of the city. The full
editorial can be found at http://www.twincities.com/ci_6171096. This issue will heat up as
recommendations are sent to the City Council later this
summer.

Roseville
City Council OKs concept plans for
93-unit building. Roseville City Council approved
in a 3-2 vote Monday the preliminary plat and general
concept planned unit development proposal submitted by
United Properties. The project is a four-story, 93-unit,
age-restricted (55 and up) housing co-op on the
northwest corner of the Twin Lakes development area. If
the plan becomes finalized, it will be the first new
development in the Twin Lakes area since the late
1990s.

Saint Paul City Council voted
4-3 to direct the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC)
to tear down the $6.1 million storm sewer surrounding
Holman Field. The Mayor has already stated
he will veto the Council’s decision and an
override appears unlikely. Thank you to Mayor
Coleman for his promised veto and to Councilmembers
Montgomery, Bostrom and Harris for their unwavering
support of Holman Field, which provides significant
economic benefit to the city.

The Chamber/Highland Business
Association Ford Site Business Advisory group supports
the City of Saint Paul appointed Ford Site Task Force’s

generation, air pollution, storm-water flow, and other
environmental factors for each site scheme. A parallel
fiscal analysis will also occur. The task force will not
meet during the summer but will stay connected to review
preliminary findings. When the AUAR process is
